US Jews open-minded about gay marriage

According to figures published this week by the Pew Research Center, US Jews strongly support gay marriage, with 76% of them in favour of it, 18% opposed to it and 8% without an opinion on the matter.

Jewish support for same-sex unions far exceeds that of other religious groups, with 34% of Protestants and 53% of Catholics in favour of gay marriage. Perhaps surprisingly, Jewish support is higher than the support among Democrats, of whom 61% are in favour. 72% of self-described "liberals" believe gay marriage should be legal.
