Simple: launch a photographic competition, and wait for Israel’s best photographers to send in their favourite pictures.
The journal of the Russian Language Israeli Geographical Society Isrageo has published its list of 2012’s winners of its photographic competition online, together with a gallery page with a selection of the jury’s favourites.
32 snaps made the fourth and final stage of the competition, attracting images of all sides of life in the Jewish State, from Bedouin pigeon-fanciers in the Negev desert, to street traders in old Jerusalem, to a horde of camels crossing a road near Beer Sheba, to one of Israel’s most repeated motifs, old Orthodox Jewish men, sometimes driving a donkey, sometimes looking wise and ancient, and in the case of the winning picture, shot by Jerusalem Photo Club member Mark Neyman, looking approvingly on at the burning of Chametz.
