As coordinated bomb attacks were carried out in Georgia and India targeting Israeli diplomats, mischief makers on the Internet overloaded the official website of the Israeli prime minister.
Benjamin Netanyahu’s webpage was knocked out for about an hour along with the websites of a handful of other Israeli businesses.
The internet mischief comes just days after online hacking group Anonymous posted a YouTube video threatening a “reign of terror” against Israel.
“Anonymous” is a loosely-organised community of activists that attempts to wreak havoc on websites through cyber-attacks, often for political reasons.
Attacks like this are becoming more frequent. Over the past few months, hackers have broken into the sites of Israeli newspapers, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, and released credit card details of thousands of Israelis.
