Due to the economic downturn, more middle class families have fallen below the poverty line in the United States. More than 50 million Americans, including 8 million children, are affected by hunger according to the US government. A photographer here in Los Angeles, is attempting to implore Jews throughout the US to help. Mazon, a Jewish Response to Hunger, has commissioned Barbara Grover to display an exhibit called “The New Face of Hunger.” Each of her photographs tells the story of a family suffering from hunger. Mazon needs to raise $ 100,000 to show the exhibit at synagogues across the country.
