Far-right party opens a charity grocery store in Athens

2 july 2012

In Greece the far-right Golden Dawn party has opened a charity shop exclusively for people of Greek ‘ethnicity’.

The charity grocery shop on the outskirts of Athens will help people of what a Golden Dawn member referred to as “Greek blood" who are suffering in the country's ongoing economic crisis.

The Golden Dawn won 7% of the vote in June’s elections keeping the same amount of the vote from the national elections in May despite one of its MP’s openly assaulting a female MP during a televised debate.

Many consider the group to be neo-Nazi in its orientation and it has been accused in the past of violent attacks against immigrants.
